Managed Computers
Issue: Client has patched itself, but will not send its hardware inventory (disk space shows as "unknown")
Resolution:
- Open your Windows Update Logfile: C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log
- Do a "Find..." for the following word: failed
- Scan through all the "failed" messages until you get to the last few, they will be the most recent, and most relevant.
- Next to each "Failed" you should see an error code.
- If your error code is 0x8024400a, try the following resolution: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;905422
- If you see error code: 0x00012c try the following steps on the problem machine:
- On the client that is experiencing the problem...
- Stop the "Windows Management Instrumentation" Service
- Go to the "system32\wbem" folder
- Delete the "respository" folder
- Start the "Windows Management Instrumentation" Service
- Run "wuauclt -detectnow"

Workaround:
This occurs if 'Microsoft TCP/IP version 6' is enabled in your environment. If YOU DO NOT NEED to use 'Microsoft TCP/IP version 6' in your environment, uninstalling that protocol will fix this issue. This will be corrected in the next milestone.
Steps to check if you are using 'Microsoft TCP/IP version 6' in your environment:
1. Launch 'Control Panel' -> 'Network connections' -> 'Local Area connection'
2. Click 'Properties' button.
3. Check for 'Microsoft TCP/IP version 6' under connection items
If that item exists, uninstall it and try configuring Group policy again using Feature Configuration wizard. Pls let us know whether this worked for you or not.
If you still receive an error while configuring Group Policy after performing above steps, try using the 'Local Policy' option.
We will continue investigating this issue to find out if it happens in any other scenarios.
Group Policy Configuration Troubleshooting
Issue: You observe the following error while managing a computer: “Failed to add the computer AD to System Center Essentials Managed Computers' security group. The error returned was: 'There is no such object on the server.' (0x80072030)
Workaround: This could happen if the computer is in a different OU than the default computer container. Add the computer to ‘System Center Essentials Managed Computers' security group in Active Directory.
Other Group Policy-Related Tips
If you are experiencing problems in using Group policy, consider using local policy. When using local policy, make sure that the required firewall exceptions are created on the *to be managed* computers before discovering them. You can find the firewall configuration instructions at: http://sce.editme.com/Discovery
If you still are experiencing problems in configuring policy, please post a comment here which contains the SCECert.log that you can find in %TEMP% directory
